Proud moments and an exciting year ahead at Guild Care By Kevin Burke, director of care homes and dementia services at Guild Care Guild Care is a trusted social care charity with a longstanding history of caring for people in Worthing and the surrounding areas. We have been part of the community for more than 90 years and each year brings special moments and new fond memories. In this article, we reflect on some of our proudest achievements from the last 12 months as we look ahead to 2026 and share some of our aims for the coming year. Caring for our homes and our people Our care homes - Caer Gwent, Linfield House and Haviland House - provide person-centred residential care with 24/7 nursing as standard. There is a real family feel, with familiar faces caring for residents and welcoming their loved ones. In the last 12 months we have developed our training programmes so that every colleague is equipped with the latest knowledge and skills to perform their role to the best of their ability. As well as investing in our people, we are always updating our homes to ensure they are calm, cosy, inviting spaces where our residents and their visitors can relax, safe in the knowledge that they have found their forever home. In 2025 each home benefitted from interior design updates, including new media walls, furnishings and lounges. These are just a few of the reasons why our homes and colleagues regularly receive praise and recognition on CareHome.co.uk. The kind reviews that family members take time to write mean so much to our teams, and we are always so grateful to people who share their experiences and help to inform others. Developing our dementia care One of our proudest moments of 2025 was when Haviland House was rated ‘Good’ by the Care Quality Commission. Haviland House is our dedicated dementia care home, with five households that provide care tailored to a particular stage of the dementia journey. We also run Haviland House Day Service, with support for people living with dementia and bringing much-needed respite for carers, families and friends. To bring this service to even more people who need it, we announced the creation of Holland House Dementia Day Centre, which will open in Spring 2026. We hosted our first open day in December to give people a glimpse into what the Centre will offer, which was a huge success and resulted in a lot of families registering their interest for the new year. Haviland House team celebrate their ‘Good’ rating from the CQC Supporting the community Holland House is also home to our Community Hub, which launched in 2025 and is designed to be a lifeline in the heart of Worthing. The venue will allow us to expand our Creating Connections service, reaching more people with the aim of reducing feelings of loneliness and isolation. We are excited to transform the space even further in 2026, reaching as many people as possible and providing a welcoming hub for people in need. It has been a busy but rewarding year and there are so many exciting projects to come in 2026. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank our wonderful team of people who make Guild Care so special, as well as our residents and the wider community for your continued support.
