Donate now to support your local Community Hub What’s Happening in Our Local Community? Older People In Worthing, 22.3% of the population are aged 65+, with many affected by loneliness and isolation. Lonely older people are nearly twice as likely to develop dementia, twice as likely to visit a GP, and 30% more likely to have an emergency hospital admission (Source: Creating Connections Social Impact Report) People Living with Dementia West Worthing has the UK’s fourth-highest dementia prevalence, with 2,361 people affected. This leads to a high number of unpaid carers, facing stress, health issues, and isolation. This can lead to social isolation for both carers and those they care for. (Source: Alzheimer’s Research UK) Children and Adults with Learning Disabilities 7.82% of people in Worthing Borough have a disability affecting daily activities. Loneliness is a challenge, with 1 in 3 young people with learning disabilities spending less than an hour outside on a typical Saturday. (Source: Mencap) Making a Difference in the Local Community Every year, Guild Care supports over 3,000 people and their families through our diverse range of community services and three care homes. With our new Community Hub, Guild Care will make an even greater difference for people across Worthing: Expand services and create new spaces So more older people, people living with dementia and children and adults with learning disabilities can access clubs, activities and tailored support—already, 78% of older people we support feel less lonely and 100% feel more confident in daily life. Our specialist support has helped 92% of people living with dementia strengthen social ties and 89% enjoy better mental health. Reach and support the most isolated We help the most isolated members of our community, including families and unpaid carers—93% of families with a loved one with a learning disability say they feel better supported.
