The popular day service in Goring-by-Sea continues to offer welcoming support to people living with dementia through tailored daytime sessions along with regular, community social events which are free to attend.

“Our social events are a time when people can come along and simply relax as they spend time out together,” said Kara Farley, team leader at Haviland House Day Service. “We want everyone to feel supported and welcomed without any stigma. It’s a real highlight to see the difference that music can make, creating special moments of connection or a brighter mood.”

This May, Haviland House Day Service is hosting a choice of free Time Out Together events in May:

  • Positive Voices Choir - Saturday, 9th May – 1.30-3.30pm
Enjoy an inclusive and uplifting singalong session tailored for people living with dementia and their loved ones. No musical experience needed for this afternoon of celebrating song together.

  • Sunday Social - Sunday, 17th May – 1.30-3.30pm
Come and listen to Jay Sings Swing with lots of toe-tapping musical favourites. Tea, coffee, cake and sandwiches served during the afternoon’s performance.

  • Afternoon Tea - Saturday, 23rd May - 1.30-3.30pm
Join our staff and fellow carers for a sociable afternoon with a live performance by professional singer, Melodie Hornett. Afternoon tea with cakes and sandwiches will be served.

As these events are free to attend, it’s essential to book in advance, not only to secure your place but also to make sure there’s plenty of tea and cake to go around!

Along with these social events, Haviland House Day Service also offers a friendly environment at its purpose-built setting in Goring-by-Sea, where people living with dementia can take part in a day of structured, meaningful activities and be served a hot lunch. Meanwhile, carers and loved ones can enjoy some time out to catch up or meet friends, knowing their loved one is safe and well-cared for.

As part of the Guild Care family, Haviland House Day Service focuses on person-centred dementia care, offering support both to those living with dementia and their loved ones.
