Findon Place will open its outstanding landscaped gardens to the public on Sunday 31st May, inviting people to explore this historic South Downs estate while supporting Worthing’s trusted social care charity, Guild Care.

The charity event promises a welcoming atmosphere and the chance to slow down, wander freely and enjoy time outdoors in support of a worthwhile local cause.

The experience will begin with a sense of arrival as guests enter via the sweeping Great Lawns. These expansive, south-facing lawns lead the visitor towards a series of walled gardens. Each garden has its own character, offering delightful contrasts as people move through spaces filled with colour, scent and seasonal interest.

The Walled Flower Garden is expected to be a highlight. Entered through a covered arch, it will be scented by white jasmine during the summer months. Traditional English country garden borders provide seasonal interest, with peonies, roses, lavenders and dahlias forming colourful and impressive displays. The planting reflects care and a natural style rather than strict formality, giving visitors the sense of a garden enjoyed year-round and at its finest in summer.

All proceeds from the Open Gardens will go towards Guild Care, a charity which supports older people, people living with dementia, and children and adults with learning disabilities in Worthing and the surrounding areas.

“We are very grateful to Caroline Hill of Findon Place for offering to open her beautiful gardens in aid of our charity,” said Jakki James, head of fundraising at Guild Care. “This promises to be a lovely afternoon to spend with family or friends in one of the most gorgeous gardens you could imagine. Support like this helps us continue caring for people in our community, and every guest joining us will be helping to make a difference.”

As well as the opportunity to admire well-kept gardens, the Open Gardens event will offer a chance to connect with nature, support a local charity and spend time in a private estate rarely open to the public.

Booking is required, with tickets available in advance at £7 each. Early slots run from 2pm to 3.30pm, with late slots from 3.30pm to 5pm to support limited parking arrangements. Refreshments will be available throughout the afternoon.
