Linfield House was named in honour of Guild Care co-founder Sir Arthur Linfield. Sir Arthur was born in Worthing in 1885 and became a respected fruit-growing entrepreneur and social reformer who played a central role in creating ‘Worthing Council of Social Service’ in 1933, now known as Guild Care.

Since opening, Linfield House has built a strong reputation for high quality care and a relaxed, comfortable environment.

This year, their continued commitment to innovation and the highest standards of care was recognised at the national Care Home Awards. Guild Care received the award for ‘Best for technology & digital care strategy’ designed to improve residents’ wellbeing. They were also highly commended for their excellent training and development, including immersive dementia training and a focus on the ‘moments that matter’ for each resident.

Manager of Linfield House, Jolanta Harbuz, joined Guild Care in December 2005 as a Care Assistant. Jola qualified as a Registered Nurse and progressed through senior roles to become Home Manager at Linfield House in 2021. She now leads a team of almost 100 people, including more than 50 care staff and a core of registered nurses. These higher staffing levels help ensure each member of the Linfield House team has more time to care for residents.

To mark two decades of Linfield House, residents and their guests enjoyed a special afternoon tea on Tuesday 19th May.

Jules, Health & Wellbeing Coordinator at Linfield House, opened the event with a history of Sir Arthur Linfield and a poem about the home today, where kindness is the order of the day, every day. A live musical performance by Emily entertained the packed room with favourite songs from across the years.

Warren Fabes, CEO of Guild Care, said, “Linfield House reflects everything Guild Care has always stood for in supporting local people with kindness and care. I’d like to think Sir Arthur Linfield would be very proud of his legacy.

“For a remarkable 20 years, Linfield House has provided a wonderful place where residents can feel very much at home. Jola and her outstanding team provide the reassurance of well-qualified care with warmth in this lovely setting in the heart of Worthing.”

As Linfield House marks its 20th anniversary, Guild Care maintains its rolling programme of investing in both the team and the home to ensure that residents can enjoy life and live well at Linfield House, both today and in the future.
