Guild Care has announced the launch of a brand-new dementia day service at its recently opened community hub, Holland House, on Little High Street in Worthing. The service, set to open in March, will provide much-needed support for people living with dementia and their loved ones.

Ahead of the launch, Guild Care is hosting two Open Days at Holland House:

  • Friday 12th December, from 10.30am to 12.30pm
  • Thursday 18th December, from 1pm to 3pm

Anyone interested in this new service is warmly invited to explore the new facility, meet the team, and speak with Sarah Johnson, head of Holland House Dementia Day Service. Visitors can also learn more about the support available, the assessment process, and ask any questions about how Guild Care’s experienced and compassionate team helps people living with dementia to lead fulfilling lives.

Importantly, the service will also provide essential and invaluable respite for carers, providing reassurance that their loved ones are engaged in a safe and enjoyable environment.

The decision to open this new facility follows the success of Guild Care’s existing Haviland House Day Service in Goring, which has seen a significant rise in demand over recent years from people living with dementia and their carers. The new Holland House service will allow the charity to extend its support to more families across the area, providing a safe, stimulating and welcoming environment designed especially for people living with dementia.

From March, the dedicated dementia day service spaces at Holland House will be welcoming its new members. There will be a variety of activities tailored to individual needs and interests. Each session will also include a freshly prepared hot lunch, giving members the chance to enjoy a nutritious meal as part of their day.

Sarah Johnson, who previously ran the Haviland House Day Service, said, “We are very excited to be expanding our dementia services to Holland House. The success of our Haviland House Day Service has shown how vital this support is for local people. We want to reach more families, offering a place where people can enjoy meaningful activities and where carers can be reassured their loved ones are safe and well cared for.”

Guild Care has provided social care and wellbeing services in Worthing and the surrounding areas since 1933. The new dementia day service at Holland House reflects the charity’s ongoing commitment to helping people to live well and stay connected within their community.
