Guild Care celebrates National Apprenticeship Week Guild Care is marking National Apprenticeship Week (9th to 15th February) by recognising colleagues across the charity who are developing their skills and progressing their careers. Apprentices work across Guild Care's three care homes, shops, learning disability services, community services, and central teams, undertaking a wide variety of qualifications. These range from Adult Care Levels 2 and 3 through to specialist Level 4 and 5 apprenticeships, including Facilities Management, Governance Officer, Learning & Development and Coaching. The Worthing-based charity said the week highlighted the dedication and ambition shown by apprentices at all levels and all ages, as they balance study alongside their day-to-day responsibilities. Strengthening learning and development across care services Jules, a trainer in the care homes team, said the Level 5 Learning and Development apprenticeship had allowed her to embed learning directly into her role: “The apprenticeship has helped me apply learning theories to how training is designed and delivered, with a real focus on how people learn and use that learning in practice. I’d absolutely recommend an apprenticeship as a way to develop in the workplace while gaining a valuable qualification.” Developing technical expertise to support safe environments Apprenticeships are also supporting technical and operational development across the organisation. Lloyd, Head of Facilities, Buildings and Estates, is completing an IWFM Level 4 apprenticeship. “The apprenticeship has strengthened my understanding of maintaining safe, compliant and efficient workplaces, while developing my problem-solving and communication skills,” said Lloyd. “It’s given me greater confidence in managing day-to-day challenges and ensuring a positive experience for everyone who uses our buildings.” Broadening confidence and capability in governance Tom, Administration and Governance Services Officer, said he felt supported from the outset of embarking on an apprenticeship. “The support from my manager, the learning and development team and senior leaders has been fantastic,” said Tom. “My apprenticeship has given me valuable experience in the wider world of governance and turned out to be a really rewarding journey – plus I didn’t expect to be eligible for a student card in my 30s!” Championing development across Guild Care Martine Glass, Learning and Development Manager, praised the commitment shown by apprentices across different areas of the local charity which supports older people, people living with dementia and children and adults with learning disabilities. Martine said, “We’ve always been proud to support our people as they grow their skills and shape their careers at Guild Care. There’s no better time to recognise our apprentices than during National Apprenticeship Week 2026. It’s a great opportunity to thank all our apprentices for their hard work and dedication to our charity and the people we support.” For more information about current opportunities, visit Work With Us | Guild Care.
