Haviland House Day Service in Goring-by-Sea is inviting members of the public to a special Open Day on Saturday 16 August. The event, which takes place between 1pm and 3pm, offers a chance to meet the team and discover how the service supports people living with dementia and their carers.

No booking is needed for the Open Day and all are welcome to drop in for a relaxed afternoon with tea, conversation and a warm welcome from the friendly staff. Visitors can explore the purpose-built centre and learn more about the social activities on offer for people living with dementia, which include gardening, baking, quizzes, live music and regular events. The service also provides a break for carers, families and friends who can relax knowing their loved one is cared for.

The image depicts a warm and joyful interaction between two individuals. A woman with shoulder-length brown hair, wearing a patterned blouse, is smiling and engaging with an older man. He has white hair and is dressed in a red zip-up jacket over a striped sweater. They are seated close together, sharing a moment of laughter. The background suggests a cosy indoor setting, possibly a care home or community centre, with soft lighting and a welcoming atmosphere. .

Sarah Johnson, team leader at Haviland House Day Service, said, “We’re really looking forward to welcoming everyone into our lovely large space here, and showing them what a warm, supportive and cheerful place we offer. Everything we do is focused on helping people feel valued, engaged and connected. If you or someone you care for is living with dementia, pop in for a cuppa and see how we might be able to support you too. There’s no pressure, it’s chance to explore and meet the team - so come along and say hi.”

Haviland House Day Service is part of Worthing’s leading social care charity Guild Care, and is also hosting a series of free social events throughout August for people living with dementia and their carers.

These include a lively afternoon of singing with the Positive Voices Dementia Choir and Ric Gray, a Sunday Social with music, dancing, sandwiches, cake and plenty of tea and coffee. Haviland House will also be welcoming back the ever-popular “Dazz does Jazz” for an afternoon filled with music and song.

All these social events are free and open to carers and the people they care for who are living with dementia and spaces can be booking by calling 01903 866130 or emailing [email protected].
