By Alex Brooks-Johnson, Chief Executive of Guild Care

Guild Care has been helping people in Worthing and the surrounding area for almost a century. We understand the isolation and social stigma that can come with old age and living with dementia, and our aim as a charity is to make sure that nobody in our community ever has to feel isolated.

We do this by providing a variety of accessible, effective and lovingly delivered support options. Through both our community services and three care homes – Haviland House, Linfield House or Caer Gwent – we want to ensure that everyone in need of care can live
fulfilling, safe and secure lives.

A range of support services

Our daytime support services and home care options are designed to provide companionship and social interaction for older people in the Worthing community.

Creating Connections, for example, is a service for people aged 65 and over, based on companionship, shared interests and community participation. We host a wide range of weekly group activities and monthly social events, such as our popular Sunday lunch club.

We also host daytime activities at our Haviland House Day Service, bringing fun and mental stimulation for people living with dementia in a safe and welcoming environment.

Three distinct care homes

We offer different levels of care to meet a whole range of needs across our three care homes. These include 24/7 nursing as standard, expert dementia support and palliative care.

For couples or individuals, our fully inclusive services adapt to deliver the right level of care wherever our residents are in their life journeys.

Each home provides a wide range of engaging, meticulously planned wellbeing activities, delicious and nutritious food, and a team of carers who are always ready to go the extra mile. We understand just how important those small moments are when it comes to living life well and finding joy in every day.

As Sammy Paynter, our health and wellbeing co-ordinator at Caer Gwent, told us: “It really does feel like one big family here.”
